Greetings from Williamsburg,VA. Have been to Colonial Williamsburg for two days and still haven't covered it all. You might know that I forgot my pedometer, but I can assure you that I have put many miles on pat and charlie (feet). Thanks goodness, I have my ugly shoes from New Balance, they are fabulous. I just knew I wouldn't be able to walk after the the first day, but i survived with no pain.
I am hoping that all the walking I am doing, will cancel out the calories - well at least some of them anyway. This morning, I cooked myself breakfast, since my husband has been so kind to cook most mornings, and i had the smoke alarm blaring. We were running around opening windows and doors... We are having a challenge with the cookware here and i was experimenting on how to fry an egg. Won't try that again!
I am learning so many interesting facts about the Colonial days, the war and what lead up to the Declaration of Independance. Had a tour guide today that took us out to the battlefield in Yorktown and kept us entertained with all of his stories with alot of facts thrown in. We saw the house where representatives met to discuss the ending of the war. very very interesting.
We were at Yorktown Victory Center at the farm where there were chickens, turkeys, guineas, the strangest looking ducks i have ever seen (black and white) and a huge rooster. It brings back days when I was little and would go to my Grandmother's farm. The smell of tobacco curing. awwwww the smell. Anyway, this guy leans down in the roosters face and said 'how are you'? I chuckled to myself, i bet he would wet himself if that rooster had crowed or jumped at his face!!! Heck, my cousin had the meanest rooster ever. You had to park very close to their door and run like the dickens or that rooster would get you. He jumped up with me on the seesaw swing one day and i was screaming my head off, as he was inching closer and closer. My cousin comes out with the broom swinging and had to keep whacking him.
Oh well, tomorrow, I will probably check my blood sugar if I can summons up the courage. I have been neglecting it lately. I have been neglecting alot lately. I am so thankful for all of this exercise. Now I just have to keep it up when I get back home. The weather has been perfect for me. Slightly cool. People are walking around with hats, scarves and gloves on, while I am walking around in short sleeves and capris.
I did get some bad news today, well it could be bad news. My daughter that cut her hand at Thanksgiving will probably have to have hand surgery. The doctor that took the stitches out today, said it appears that she cut a tendon. I just pray pray pray that she will not have surgery. It will be terrible to have a 3 year old (my grandson) and an 18 month old (boy that she takes care of 3 days a week) running around requiring care.
I did get wonderful and exciting news this week. My other daughter is now expecting. Woohoo.
Well, until next time, everyone take care. these boots are made for walking
