Ouch and Ouch (Joan)

Well, I had typed up my blog and I don't know what happened (I am sure it is user error on my part)  I would have sworn I hit the save and apply buttons, but I searched and searched and finally gave up 2 days later.  It had totally lost it.  It was of course the best one I have done.  Figures.  Anyway, I have lots to talk about.  Continuing on the gym saga, I had my biometrics and assessment appointment. I had to have my cholesterol checked as part of it.  This guy pulls out this instrument looking thingy  that was thick and long and I mean couple of inches long.  It was what he was going to use to get my blood.  I told him, I like to pass out.  It didn't hurt as bad as it looked, but still ouch.  If I am sticking myself I can get ready.  It seems to hurt me more when someone does it.  Then the worst part begins - my measurements, the pinches for fat (yuck!) my flexibility I have very little)and weight. How can you bend and be flexible when your belly fat is in the way??? When the instructor tells me I have to do push-ups, I said what??? I am complaining and grumbling because it kills me to get down on my knees and then you have to get up.  He gives me so many instructions, I was all contorted.  So he gets down on the floor and shows me how to do them, so I let him...  Ha.  I could only do a few.  So they put all this information together in order to come up with a fitness program designed for me.  They also give this info to the nutritionist, so she can help with the nutritional side. We will also be using my fitness pal.

I decided to wait a few days after my doctor's appointment to blog until I had more information.  I discussed with my regular physician an appointment for a bariactric's visit.  The more info I read the more I was afraid to participate.  I don't think it will work with my lifestyle and some of medical problems.  I asked her for a magic pill or a magic wand.  My doctor said if she found one, we would all be standing behind her.  She is a beautiful person.  She doesn't just answer questions, she explains everything about it.  I appreciate that, it helps me figure things out.  She has a doctor friend that is a bariatric doctor and she got very upset with him, because she thought he was in it just to make money.  Instead he educates his patients.  He hired a nutritionist and sometimes brings in a chef.  Lots of people loose weight and  don't even need the surgery.  He tries to improve their quality of life.

Last time I blogged I was down in the dumps but I am much better now.  I'm  baaack.  Seeing some old friends and laughing alot last Saturday brought me out of my funk.  It is amazing how laughter can cure alot of ailments or at least make you forget about them for awhile.  My philosphy is, it is better to laugh than cry and if I don't laugh, I will certainly cry.  Also knowing that I would be seeing my Diabetes Sisters at our monthly meeting helped.  We had a great meeting as usual.  I always learn something from the ladies there.  I wish they were once a week.  If you haven't attended one, please do.

Good evening everyone.  Been a drizzly overcast couple of days here in Raleigh, NC.  I am trying to get the courage up to check my blood sugar level.  Do any of you feel this way?  I am safe if I don't know what my readings are, right? Wrong.  I know all the bad stuff i have been cramming in my mouth will certainly show up in a negative way.  I was talking with a friend yesterday and we were both discussing how we need to detox from the holidays.  Feeling bloated and grouchy with some not sleeping well makes for a detox plan.
