WHEW!!! I am not one of those people who has died and gone to heaven once summer hits--it's more like I just died, really. The heat always gets to me this time of year, and it seems that this week North Carolina's infamous high levels of humidity have finally set in. It constantly feels like 105-110 degrees Fahrenheit here once the dead heat of July comes, and it's constantly muggy. The air just feels thick with heat--can you tell that I'm not a huge fan? haha! One problem that I have with the high humidity and all-around heat extravaganza that is summer in NC is that heat makes my blood sugars low. If I get really hot, then I become very flustered quickly, so maybe the frustration is what actually makes me low, but who knows the exact cause. Anyway, I just wanted to send a warning out to other women who are susceptible to low blood sugars in the heat to make sure to carry around plenty of sugar sources with them. This affect can even pop up in the most unlikely of places, such as when you are in a heated pool or hot tub. I notice it the most when I am having to move heavy loads (like moving apartments) but that is obviously compounded with just the physical act of moving. Stay safe in the humidity, ladies, and carry around an extra juice box or two :)
