February 7, 2010 How do you decide who to tell about your Diabetes? Do you share it with just your family? Friends? Co-workers? Anyone who will listen? When do you tell? Do you just fit it into the conversation as an afterthought? ”Oh by the way, I have Diabetes.” Or is it a more formal conversation?

Life Insurance Saga (Markee) |
|
January 31, 2010 Everyone always says, “Diabetes requires adjustments to your life, but you can still do everything you did before.” Well, until recently I believed this was true because I had not experienced anything that proved otherwise.

Adjusting Insulin (Markee) |
|
January 24, 2010 Since my diagnosis I have been taking the same amount of Lantus each day and a 1:10 ratio of Humalog before meals. Holiday Reflections (Markee) |

January 10, 2010 I cannot believe it has been 8 months since I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I never thought I would say this, but the time has really flown by! What a year 2009 turned out to be for me. So far, 2010 is off to a good start. I am so excited to be to be the next Type 1 Diabetes blogger! Last May I kept having reoccurring yeast infections. I had never had a yeast infection before, much less one that was so persistent. On my second visit to my primary care physician for the infection, I asked her if this could be a sign of something else. I had read online that yeast infections were a symptom of Diabetes and questioned my doctor about this. She said she thought it was very unlikely that I had Diabetes because of my ‘body type’ (obviously she was not very familiar with Type 1). However, I was not leaving without something more than a prescription for Diflucan so she humored me and ordered some labs.

January 4, 2010 Happy New Year to all of you fantastic Diabetes Sisters out there. I hope your celebrations to welcome the new year was as fun and safe as mine was. This is my final posting as the featured Type 1 Blogger for the last 8 months. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to open up and share my own day to day struggles with a disease that doesn't take a day off. Your input and replies have been really nice to anticipate and to learn from. I wish everyone good health and prosperity in the New Year and I look forward to reading the future blogs and comments from my fellow sisters. Thank you Brandy and Laura for your interest and assistance. I wish you luck with the future growth of this site, which truly is a valuable tool for women like us to be able to share our issues and concerns each day as women with diabetes. Sincerely, Melissa
