http://www.diabetessisters.org FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: DECEMBER 30, 2009 Sanofi-Aventis Commits Support to DiabetesSisters, 501c3RALEIGH, NC, December 30, 2009 –DiabetesSisters, a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization, announced today that Sanofi-aventis has pledged $20,000 the organization’s 2010 efforts to improve the health and quality of life of women with diabetes. “To have the support of an industry-leader like Sanofi-aventis acknowledges the reality of the needs specific to women living with this disease. We are grateful for the company’s generosity,” said Brandy Barnes, Founder and Executive Director of DiabetesSisters. In 2010, DiabetesSisters plans to maintain its online resources related to healthy living for women with diabetes, including diabetes and the law, pregnancy, menopause, medical decision making for family, and physical and emotional health. The organization’s hallmark program, the Diabetes Buddy Program, will expand to more accurately match more women with a friend who also has diabetes. The organization will also continue to hold quarterly live meet ups where women with type 1, type 2, gestational, LADA, and MODY diabetes can network, talk and simply share experiences. The year also will hold the first ever Weekend for Women Conference hosted by DiabetesSisters and TCOYD. This Conference will be held in conjunction with the Taking Control of Your Diabetes Conference and Health Fair the weekend of May 22-23, 2010. It is open to women with all types of diabetes and takes place in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Marriott City Center. Interactive sessions and lectures from experts in the field of diabetes will focus on gender-specific topics related to diabetes management.
