December 28, 2009 Happy Holidays!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and was able to spend some down time with your family and friends like I was lucky enough to do this past week. I took the week before and around Christmas off from work and just returned back today to face the year end "Accounting" grind ahead. My daughter and I who is off from school spent the week doing the last of our shopping, cooking and we baked some cookies as we do every year. I also received some much anticipated news on the job front just 2 days before Christmas Day, our company has been bought by a competitor in the same health food distribution business. To early to tell where I stand with my job and if the new owners will keep us around to just continue what we do. Wish me luck , but either way I have my resume' updated and ready to go if needed. In my previous blog I mentioned factoring in an occasional treat during the holidays, as I mentioned ealier we baked cookies, and also a date bread which I love to have with whipped cream on top. I was able to enjoy small samples of each, dosed my insulin accordingly and had no up or down blood sugar problems to speak of. Of course I was smart enough to give away the majority of what we baked to my family. We enjoy taking the time to make homemade "sweet gifts" for everyone to enjoy. Now onto New Years, not sure what we are planning to do quite yet, but I'll be sure to be safe while still enjoying the celebrations!!! I wish all the Diabetes-Sisters a safe and joyous New Year's and a fabulous 2010 ahead!!!
