Good Wednesday afternoon ladies! I hope all is well in the world of Diabetes. I know that the weeks near the holidays can be quite stressful with all of the holiday shopping, arranging travel plans, and the abundance of sweets. The past few weeks have been stressful for me, but I just finished my last exam of the semester this morning. From experience, these weeks near the holiday season have been filled with holiday foods such as sweets, stressful nights, and long workdays. Since the end has come, and it is time for me to begin my holiday season, I plan to use these next few weeks to truly get back into a nice pattern to maintain my weight and bloodsugars throughout Christmas and New Years. Even though there are going to be a lot of opportunities to snack on sweets and heavy carbohydrates, it is important to remember to do so in moderations. It isn’t good to completely deny urges, but it isn’t healthy to overindulge either.
Another important aspect not to forget over the holidays is the importance of regular exercise. I know that most of our time is limited, but it is important that we all try to take at least thirty minutes out of our day to workout even if it is only three to five days out of the week. Not only will this help us keep the holiday pounds off, but it will also help us regulate our bloodsugars after eating those sweet snacks here and there.
Now that we have covered they health aspect of the holidays, remember to be thankful for all that you receive and that which you give. Have happy holidays ladies! Sara
