November 11, 2009 Good evening Ladies. Happy Diabetes awareness month! I hope everyone is having a great and cheerful week. This week has been a slow one for me because I am still getting over the flu. Also, North Carolina is experiencing the wrath of a tropical storm, which means that it has been raining and will more than likely continue to rain for the next few days. My body, mind, and bloodsugars have taken a blow from the H1N1 virus. Thankfully, the only residual symptoms I have left consist of minimal coughing and slight respiratory distress. Even though the symptoms are easing off, my bloodsugars are continuously uncontrolled and tend to fall on the high spectrum. While looking at my bloodsugar patterns from the past few days, I feel that I am experiencing an “I told you so” moment because I feel that if I would have started a B “sick” rate earlier than I did I would not be having such drastic bloodsugar levels. Hopefully, with the help of good management and food control I will be able to stabilize my levels better. Although, it doesn’t help that it is such a rainy week because I tend to snack a lot more than I do if I am not in my apartment for the majority of the day. That being said, I also need to incorporate extra snacking into my management plan because I know that it is inevitable that I will snack. Has anyone else noticed that they tend to snack more so when it is rainy outside?
As you all probably know, November is diabetes awareness month. I challenge each one of you to spread the word about diabetes in general or about your diabetes experience specifically. This disease that we live with is not a disease to be ashamed of because we control our lives not the disease. It is the disease that inspires us to push every day to live healthier lives.
