3 Month Checkup time (Sara) PDF Print E-mail

September 22, 2009

Happy Tuesday DiabetesSisters!!! I hope everyone has had a great start to the beginning of the week. For me, today has been dreary and rainy, but I was able to see my doctor today for my three-month checkup. Usually, I do not look forward to doctor’s appointments, but today I was able to talk to my endocrinologist about the difficulties I have currently been writing about in my weekly blogs!

My doctor gave me a good report. My A1C is fairly stable in the low 7’s and I have lost 12 lbs since my last visit three months ago. Otherwise, she told me that the high bloodsugars that I have been experiencing during exercise could be due to the increased adrenalin rush due to the social aspect of a group exercise class. Overall, my three-month report was not upsetting.

Even though I have done fairly well over the past three months, I feel that I still have a lot of goals to accomplish. For me, as well as for many diabetics, weight loss and healthy maintenance of weight is difficult most of the time because our blood sugars fluctuate. We have to account for lows with food and highs with insulin, and both of these have consequences for weight loss and for the overall physical and mental feeling of our bodies.  Hopefully, I will be able to drop ten more pounds by my next three month appoint to reach my goal weight, but there is no doubt that it will be a mental and physical struggle that will effect my will power and my belief in myself.

I hope you all enjoyed reading my blog, and I hope to hear from you all. Have a marvelous week!

Sara

Wow, 12 lbs! That's great! I can totally relate to that feeling of still
having goals you want to accomplish with diabetes care. I think that's one of
the hardest parts for me sometimes. You can feel "good" and be doing
all the "work" but still feel like there is so much more you could be
doing. So frustrating. I try to remind myself of the things that are going
well, and then just try to make small goals that are realistic for me to
accomplish. But it's hard and neverending...
Good luck with it all.
